Case study - Lauraine's website

"I run a small business that historically works via word-of-mouth recommendations. However, in the current economic climate I was experiencing a fall in the number of customers I was serving as people were thinking twice about everything they spent and I was unsure what I could do to make 'the difference'.

I have lost count of the number of times over the last few years I'd considered a website but had talked myself out of it by the thought of what it might entail. This was crazy really as I look on the web - as most people do nowadays - for anything and everything and my potential customers no doubt do the same.

It was while I was considering getting a website for the 100th time that Paul's web design company was brought to my attention. I was sent links to his latest works, and I have to say I was impressed. I immediately contacted Paul and we talked about how it would all work. I couldn't believe how little I actually needed to do to start the ball rolling and I came away thinking, even I, (a technophobe) can have a website worth looking at.

Initially, I gave Paul my advertising brochure and business card so he could see "my window on the world". Paul then began by creating a design that could be quickly changed and amended. Each time Paul made an adjustment or addition he sent me an email with the attachment for my approval.

I decided upon the predominant colour scheme for the web page, and again Paul found a variety of colours for me to choose from.

I recognised the front page was my opportunity to tell people a little about myself, and my method of working - so I set to and did just that, it took far less time than I thought it would. I emailed it to Paul who, in no time at all, transposed my information onto my new web page. I found a photo I was happy with and Paul added that. We moved the photo several times to ensure it was how I wanted it and Paul again was happy to do this.

Following on, I fed Paul piecemeal information about the different areas of my business and Paul added them, and again I received proofs online. Paul sorted out the website hosting and the domain name - I didn't have to get involved in the techno stuff thank goodness - and I was more than happy about that as I wouldn't have known where to begin.

While the website was being built I found Paul very easy to communicate with, he is flexible, has the knowledge needed to make a good job of the website and he made suggestions on how I might enhance the content I'd put forward. It was incredible how fast the website was completed - in total I think it took somewhere between 5 and 6 weeks to go 'live'.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Paul, the website has brought in business that I would never have reached without it, and has already paid for itself. Everyone I have shown the website to has said how good they thought it looked - and all of this has been achieved by Paul at a cost that's affordable to anyone."
